2-28-10 Pink Japanese Magnolia blossom

I always look forward to seeing the pink blooms of the beautiful Japanese magnolia.  We have two trees.  They bloom before most of our plants.

This blue vase is on the window seal.  I took the photo from the second story.  You can see the roof of my studio porch (with leaves on it) and the trees in the woods. 

2-26-10 Strong Little Azalea Braves the Elements

This is one of the dwarf azaleas that bloom during the winter months.  It usually starts blooming in December.  This little thing has been around for all of the "below freezing" temperatures!  So pretty - amazing that it looks this way!

2-25-10 Ivy and Magnolia

This is ivy climbing the big magnolia tree.

Afternoon Shadows. . .

 

I have a good feeling about these shadows . . . soft edges, simple shapes, enough contrast to be interesting.  Similar to a nice charcoal drawing.

2-23-10 Yard Art

We don't normally look forward to cutting down the banana trees. After all, they are laden with fiber and water  --  and they are very heavy!

But look how interesting and pretty the trunk is after it has been cut!

2-22-2010 "It was a dark and stormy night . . ."

This looked pretty wild last night.  After making this photo, I went inside for a few minutes and came back out to make more photos - the moon was gone - the clouds had completely taken over!

February 21, 2010 Where's Purrble?

 

 I looked  for Yam last week and then, after midnight  last night/this morning, I looked around for Purrble.  She watched me the whole time I was calling for her! 

February 20, 2010 Enjoyed my Enameling workshop today!

 

I enjoyed my workshop with Kathy today! Here is a piece using fire scale as a design element with a transparent clear over it (actually two layers of transparent one clear and the other a very thin, very subtle layer of sky blue).

Purrble likes to watch t.v.  Here she enjoys  the Olympics  and, later on, she watched the Westminster Dog show!

I took some photos in the mall today.  My  husband walks every afternoon and I walk a lap or so and then"peel off" to go to Barnes and Noble for a latte!

Where is Yam?!

I looked everywhere for Yam yesterday - in closets, under the beds, under  the  sofas, in the bathtub, everywhere - almost - then I decided to look up!
(and I forgot to post this last night)

Made It!

Through all of the cold weather this hydrangea (still potted) was taken inside and then put outside over and over again.  It should  have been a dormant period , but here it is with a beautiful coral bloom today!
